Phew, what a morning. Going into today's appointment we knew that we would have an ultrasound and we anticipated that we would leave with more information than when we arrived. What we did not realize was the depth that our appointment would entail. The first portion of our appointment was spent with a genetic counselor. In our conversation we discussed the different scenarios that could take place as a result of the baby's Echogenic Focus of the Heart. It was a lot of information all at once and we tried to absorb the possible realities of our situation.

Once we completed our time with the counselor we were taken into the examination room. It was pure joy to see our little babe on the screen. We are always amazed at how much the baby has changed week by week. As of today our kiddo weighs in at 1 pound 7 ounces! The baby made the ultrasound technician really work. It did not stop moving the entire appointment!

It was quite obvious from the start that the "bright spot" was as bright as ever. It did not dissolve as we had hoped. After over an hour and a half into the exam all of the pictures were reviewed by the high risk specialist. At that point the technician left the room and the doctor continued our exam. After the final pictures were taken the doctor determined that our baby looks very healthy :) Even though the Echogenic Focus is still there we will not get any further testing and we are cleared to go back to our normal OB.

We continue to be amazed by the process of carrying a child. We are so thankful this baby is ours to love. We can't wait to find out if it is a boy or girl at our party this weekend. Stay tuned!
