Shots

As you can see, Luci is a very healthy baby. We LOVE her rolls!! Our trip to see the doctor for her 2 month appointment was a fun one :) When the nurse gave Lu the oral rotavirus vaccine she proceeded to vomit.....nice ;) We let her recover and attempted once more and she threw up AGAIN. Our girl has her daddy's gag reflex and I don't think dad will be much help on clean up duty ;) They give the vaccine again at 4 months so hopefully she is able to keep in down then. Has this happened to anyone else? The next day when I "attempted" to give her some Tylenol she threw up again...all over her and all over me. I think our girl just likes her milk.

Happy 2 Month, Luciana Elisabeth

Here is what Luci Elisabeth has been up to this month and what we have learned about our sweet baby girl...

  • You weigh 11 pounds 5 ounces and are 21.75 inches long.

  • You fit in 3 month clothes and are wearing size 1 diapers.

  • You are a very efficient eater. You eat every 3 hours during the day and go on 5 hour stretches during the night.

  • You slept 7 hours straight the day you turned 5 weeks old, but that has not happened again recently.

  • You sleep in your cradle next to our bed. We are not sure when we are going to move you to your room. We like you next to us!

  • You took your first bottle from daddy at 8 weeks old and did great! This will be a special time for you two and makes mommy feel better about going back to work in May.

  • You still like to be swaddled at night and you sleep with your arms above your head.

  • We introduced the paci at 5 weeks old with some prompting from your aunts :) You love it and take it when you are fussy and when you go to sleep.

  • You have such a tender spirit and sweet nature. You are up more during the day and smile and coo often. You woke us up this morning with your laugh.

  • You make soooo many faces and are a good source of entertainment.

  • Mornings are so much fun with you....we love waking up to your sweet smile!

  • You are a fan of the swing.

  • You are a fan of tubby time. You are not a fan of getting out of the tub.

  • You are becoming much stronger during tummy time. We think you might roll over soon.

  • You like to be propped up on our shoulder so you can look around.

  • You love to go for walks in your stroller.

  • You make going places so easy...we think you will like to be on the go like your mom and dad.

  • You went on your first girl's trip to Traverse City to celebrate your Aunt Jen's birthday.

  • You had your first massage from Aunt Sarah and loved it! Daddy is going to need to freshen up his massage skills!

  • You went on the plane to Florida at 6 weeks old. You slept the entire flight, waking up on the landing.

  • You went to the beach and felt the sand between your toes and the ocean at your feet.

  • We cannot believe how much you have changed this month. We love your little personality.

  • We thank God every day for you! Love you SO SO much!

M.I.A.

I appologize for my lack of posts...I know, bad blogger! We just returned from our first family vacation and it was FABULOUS! Little Lu was a terrific traveler and we think she will be a true beach baby! We already miss the sunny state and are anxious for a little sunshine here at home.

Promise to post more pics soon!

FaBuLoUs at 40!

Luci and I just returned from an absolutely wonderful getaway with my mama and sisters. We had such a great time with each other. It was so much fun to catch up and celebrate Jen's 40 years :) To say my mom spoiled us would be an understatement. I don't think I have ever seen my sisters SO relaxed. We were pampered at the spa, had great food and drinks everywhere we went, soaked in the hot tub and got some good ole' shopping in too. Little Lu successfully completed her first girls trip...way to go girl!

Happy birthday Jen!! 40 never looked so good!

Thank you for a very memorable weekend. 3 years until Sarah is 40 and I am 30. Where shall we go sis?!

Happy 1 Month, Luciana Elisabeth!

Wow, our Luci girl is one month old today! Everyone tells you that time goes by very quickly with a child and they sure are right. It's hard to believe that 4 weeks ago we met our precious baby. Life has been so good with her in our lives and we can't wait to watch her continue to grow!

Here is what Luciana has been up to this month and what we have learned about our babe....

  • You fit in newborn clothes and diapers until you were 3 weeks old. (We had a hard time putting you in size 1 diapers...they just seem too big :)
  • You are now wearing 3 month clothing and size 1 diapers.
  • You weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces at your 2 week appointment and we are guessing that you weigh around 10 pounds now!
  • You are nursing like a champ (your double chins are proof of this). You have gotten yourself on a good nursing schedule and nurse every 3 hours day and night.
  • You sleep in your cradle or bouncy seat in our room at night and take a morning nap in your bedroom.
  • We swaddle you at night but you always manage to kick yourself out of it.
  • You are a very easy baby and only get fussy in the evening. (The past two nights however, you have not let me sleep...let's hope this does not become our new routine.)
  • You are starting to be more alert during your wake times and we love staring at you.
  • You do well sleeping through loud noises. Peyton's barking doesn't seem to bother you one bit.
  • You do not take a pacifier and will occasionally suck on your thumb or finger.
  • You seem to like tummy time and will lift your head to look around, turning it from side to side.
  • You furrow your brow and have a very serious face that cracks us up.
  • You sneeze in 3's or 4's.
  • When you calm down after crying you sound like a rapper.
  • You like to stick out your tongue and play with your hands.
  • You have a very good digestive system and can blow out a diaper like a pro. You have only done this for daddy and grandma :)
  • You like to go for walks in the baby bjorn.
  • You went to your first cheer competition, State Finals, and slept the entire time.
  • You went on your first road trip to Indiana and slept all the way there and back only waking when we got off the exits.
  • You can recognize my voice and your daddy's voice and will turn your head towards us when you hear us talk.
  • When you smile it melts our hearts.
  • Your dad and I are crazy about you and cannot imagine life without you!

Love you sweet thing!

A cheerful heart is good medicine. Proverbs 17:22

My dear friend Anne went to her Heavenly home this morning and it has been a tough one. She will be missed so very, very much. I am so thankful that she was surrounded by her family and that she is no longer in pain but it sure is difficult to think of our lives without her. Thanking God that this is our temporary home.

There are so many things I will remember about Anne but what I loved most about her was her cheerful heart. Anne could make any day brighter and always saw the good in any situation. This is something that I want to remember in my daily life. I love you Anne and am so thankful for our time together!
